Application
This elbow is suitable for gas, oil, and solid fuel appliances, accommodating temperatures up to 600 degrees. It’s crucial to note that VIT-Smooth pipes are intended exclusively for use as connecting pipes between appliances and Flue Liners, Chimney Stacks, or Twin Wall Flue Systems. Important: VIT-Smooth pipes should not be used to penetrate ceilings or combustible walls.

Construction
Crafted from zero carbon steel and coated with a matte black Powder vitreous enamel finish, the VIT-Smooth elbow ensures durability while maintaining a sleek appearance. It’s built to withstand temperatures up to 600 degrees, providing reliable performance for various appliances.

Installation
During installation, ensure a minimum distance of 375mm from combustible materials (e.g., wood, plasterboard). The correct orientation of the VIT-Smooth is essential – the smaller diameter should always point downwards to retain condensates within the flue system. The friction-fit joint design eliminates the need for sealing joints, but for added security, joints can be coated with fire cement or high-temperature silicone sealant. If cutting the pipe, protect any exposed steel with high-temperature paint to prevent rust over time. Always wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during installation.

Maintenance
Plan for regular inspection and chimney cleaning, especially crucial for solid fuel applications. Installing a VIT-Smooth with access doors at direction changes facilitates this process. It’s recommended to sweep and maintain chimneys serving solid fuel appliances at least once a year, or as frequently as necessary.
